The
Wootton Equestrian Club was established in 1998 by Jamie McKenna and
Charm Redden. This year the president, and team captain is Erin
McKenna. The club is more like a team and competes against other
schools in the area to earn points, both collectively and individually.
The school with the most points overall at the end of the year wins. It
is open to any student who expresses an interest in horses, and would
like to learn more about the horse world; such as care, competition,
and other local events. Horse ownership is not a prerequisite for
joining. Members who would like to compete in shows are given the
opportunity to rent a horse for the show. The shows are held at either
the Potomac Horse Center or R&F Stables. Last year the team placed
6th out of 29 schools competing. The Equestrian Team is a year round
sport, which requires much time and devotion. |
